THE MCCARTHYS

Every Boxing Day we invite family and friends to an open house/bbq at our Waikanae Beach.

In 2012, we were privileged to experience a traditional Argentinian Asado prepared by our own personal Asadore, Juan.  Under his watchful direction, preparations commenced mid-morning - building of the parrilla using a combination of Kiwi/Argentinian diy initiatives, gathering of the precise type of wood to be used the fire, and selecting and seasoning of the meat as well as the preparing of the accompanying salads and sauces.

On this beautiful sunny Kapiti day, Juan kept a watchful eye on the slowly cooking meat, whilst the rest of us looked on, relaxing under the shade of the large Pohutukawa tree, drinking Marbeck and cold beer, and eating scrumptious empanadas.  However, the best was yet to come – The MEAT itself– It was moist, tender and very tasty, and was eagerly devoured!

Everyone enjoyed the experience so much that they are looking forward to a repeat experience in the not too distant future?

Thanks again Juan.

Happy Birthday, Have a Good One Mate, & Feliz Cumpleanos from your New Zealand family. xxxxx
